LET’S GET TO WORK: ROGERS COOKS IN REDFORD TOWNSHIP DINER, TALKS NO TAXES ON TIPS
WHITE LAKE, MI — Army veteran, businessman, and Trump-endorsed candidate for U.S. Senate Mike Rogers put his burger frying skills to the test in his new Let’s Get to Work video. The video features Mike and his wife, Kristi, working in the kitchen at Marko’s Cozy Diner, an Albanian-owned restaurant in Redford Township, and talking with the owners about the benefits of no taxes on tips.
The video is part of Rogers’ Let’s Get to Work series, which highlights various pieces of the historic Working Families Tax Cuts. In the series, Rogers works at diners, on farms, and in manufacturing facilities across the state to talk with Michigan workers about their experiences and how they personally save thanks to the tax cuts.

ROCKY DONOVIC: Perfect. There you go.
KRISTI ROGERS: Wow. Amazing.
ROCKY DONOVIC: Now, you’ve got it.
MIKE ROGERS: Hi, we’re in Redford at Marko’s Cozy Diner—here to meet with Robert and Rocky, the owners. Son and father. Let’s go on inside, and let’s get to work.
MIKE ROGERS: So, you’ve been in business for 20 years here.
ROCKY DONOVIC: Since I bought it in 2006.
MIKE ROGERS: Awesome. Tell me about how you got in the restaurant business, why you bought it in 2006.
ROCKY DONOVIC: It’s the only thing I know how to do. No, really. It’s a dream. Me being an immigrant, that’s my biggest dream I ever had is owning my own business.
ROB DONOVIC: My dad came to this country, and worked hard. And built the family diner. It’s gotten much harder. The taxes have gone up. The costs of materials have gone up. The cost of employment has gone up.
MIKE ROGERS: The whole plan is to put pressure on prices. No tax on overtime, no tax on tips. Do you think that helps your employees?
ROCKY DONOVIC: Yeah, that’s great. It’s a good thing.
MIKE ROGERS: Because they can put it right in their pockets, right?
ROCKY DONOVIC: Yeah, right in their pocket. They work very hard.
ROB DONOVIC: So, it would be nice if the government would focus more on local businesses to allow us to take that cash and reinvest it into our business.
MIKE ROGERS: So, we’ve had two Democrats in the United States Senate representing Michigan for 30 years. Do you think it’s time for a change for small business across the state of Michigan?
ROB DONOVIC: It would be nice for someone new like you, with your background. It’s a sigh of relief, almost, having someone new there, to fight on behalf of us.
MIKE ROGERS: Well, I appreciate that very much. This is the way to run a family business. What the government needs to do is just get the hell out of your way. We’re going to go to Washington for you guys.
ROB DONOVIC: Thank you, sir.
MIKE ROGERS: Thank you, very much. Appreciate it. Thank you.
KRISTI ROGERS: Such a pleasure. Good to see you again. Excellent, excellent. Thank you, again.
