VIDEO: UNLOCKING HOMEOWNERSHIP FOR THE NEXT GENERATION
WHITE LAKE, MI — Army veteran, businessman, and Trump-endorsed candidate for U.S. Senate Mike Rogers today released the following video outlining how his four-point plan will make housing more affordable and restore the American Dream for the next generation.
Read the full video transcript below:
Mike Rogers: For generations, this is what the American Dream looked like. You worked hard. You saved. You bought a place just like this.
Kristi Rogers: And now, the average first-time homebuyer is 40 years old. That’s not how it should be. It’s too expensive. It’s too complicated. And Washington has just made it worse.
Mike Rogers: That’s why I have a plan to unlock homeownership again.
First, help with down payments. Expand 529 savings plans so that families can use them for a home, not just college.
Second, lower interest rates. If you pay your rent on time, that should count and build credit. Lower your rate. Lower your payment.
Third, cut red tape. Excessive regulations have added thousands to the cost of every new home.
And fourth, build more. Create housing zones where new homes can be built tax free.
Kristi Rogers: First time buying a home should not be out of reach.
Mike Rogers: My plan focuses on ownership, not bureaucracy. Opportunity, not obstacles. And restoring the American Dream for the next generation.
