ROGERS TALKS BUILDING, UNLOCKING HOMEOWNERSHIP IN DOWNTOWN DETROIT
DETROIT, MI – Army veteran, former FBI agent, former House Intelligence Committee Chairman, and candidate for U.S. Senate Mike Rogers today discussed his four-key plan to unlock homeownership during a press conference in Detroit. He discussed the plan on one of Detroit’s 122,000 empty lots and was surrounded by supportive builders and Detroit families.
“So many people walked away from this great city,” said Rogers. “This is the exact opportunity that we believe could start filling in those 122,000 vacant lots. For far too long in Detroit, they have gauged their success by how many homes they tore down — like every home in this neighborhood. Now, it starts to change, because we’re going to start judging by how many homes we build in Detroit.”
He was joined by the following speakers:

“I went through bankruptcy, but got my credit and stuff together. Then I went back to the banks, working and making well over six figures. I still got denied. I'm like, ‘Wait a minute, wait a minute. How do you file a bankruptcy, get your down payment, get your credit together, give them a down payment and still ‘no’...[Today,] I just got a little bit of change to afford to live in a decent, nice apartment. But still, I would like to own my own home one day. I would like to own my own construction business…I'm a registered Democrat. But this year, I will be voting for Mr. Mike Rogers.”
