ROGERS STATEMENT ON ICE ARREST OF CRIMINAL ILLEGAL ALIEN SEX OFFENDER IN DETROIT

WHITE LAKE, MI — Army veteran, businessman, and Trump-endorsed candidate for U.S. Senate Mike Rogers today released a statement on Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (“ICE”) arrest of a criminal illegal alien sex offender, Sumith Gunasekera, in Detroit on November 12.

Gunasekera’s criminal history reportedly includes sexual interference with a minor, gross lewdness, uttering death threats, invitation to sexual touching, and disorderly conduct. He claimed to work as an associate professor for Ferris State University in Big Rapids. Mike Rogers released the following statement in response:

“Criminals belong behind bars, not in classrooms,” said Rogers. “The fact that a criminal illegal alien sex offender had direct access to students on campus is sickening. I’m grateful for ICE’s swift action to keep Michigan students and communities safe before anyone else was victimized.”
