ROGERS: MY DAD BUILT OUR FAMILY HOME. HOMEOWNERSHIP SHOULDN’T BE THAT HARD TODAY

WHITE LAKE, MI — Army veteran, businessman, and Trump-endorsed candidate for U.S. Senate Mike Rogers today released a video sharing the story of how his Dad, a former shop teacher at Redford Union High School, built their family home around them. It shouldn’t be that hard to get into a home today.

Read the full transcript below:

“I was the youngest of five boys. My father was a teacher at Redford Union High School, a shop teacher at that, when he decided to build a home literally around his family.

We moved in. The house looked exactly like this. There was no drywall, but the plumbing was working. And you had five boys running around the house.

And every night, when he would come home from work he would hang drywall. He’d run electric. He did all the work himself.

That was his version of the American Dream. That was his stretch to try to get into a home.

It shouldn’t have to be that hard today to get into a home. We can change that.”
