DETROIT, MI — Army veteran, businessman, and Candidate for U.S. Senate Mike Rogers today released the following statement on the tariffs with Canada and need to protect Michigan manufacturing:

“Once again, Michiganders are forced to bear the consequences of failed leadership from our Democratic officials in Washington. For 25 years, Michigan’s two U.S. Senators have prioritized their political clout and party prominence over the interests of the people who elected them. Rather than working with the President and Republicans in Congress to protect Michigan’s interests, they have allowed jobs to disappear by the hundreds of thousands.

President Trump is right to put America First - and tariffs are necessary, but are not a one-size-fits-all solution.  

Elissa Slotkin and Gary Peters are missing in action. Michigan deserves a Senator who will work with President Trump to broker a trade deal with Canada that supports our farmers and gets the best deal for Michigan autoworkers and manufacturers.

When I get to the U.S. Senate, I will work to actually deliver results for Michigan, because that’s what matters. Our current Senators had their chance, but it’s time for a change. Michigan, Let’s get to work!”
