MEMPHIS IS UP. DETROIT IS ON DECK.

In case you missed it…  Trump-endorsed candidate for U.S. Senate Mike Rogers today joined Chris Renwick on WJR to discuss President Trump's crackdown on crime in major cities.

Monday, President Trump announced a task force to reduce violent crime in Memphis, the only major city with more violent crime than Detroit. With these efforts to Make Memphis Safe Again, Detroit is soon to be the most violent city in the country.

According to FBI data, in 2024, Detroit had:

  • 9,584 aggravated assaults

  • 203 murders

  • 620 rapes

  • 4,611 burglaries

WJR: Rogers says Detroit is “moving up on the violent crime list”

Listen here and read below:

  • Once Memphis is off the list–and it will be–once they have this surge into Memphis, they’re going to come way off of that violent crime list. They’re number one in the country–Memphis, Tennessee–for the most violent city. Guess who’s in the top five: Detroit. And so what happens is, we’re moving up on the violent crime list.

  • I get that there are some efforts there to do these civilian mediations. Great. That should still continue. But you cannot keep tolerating over 200 murders a year in that city.

  • Here’s the good news: you have a President that wants to work with you to surge resources into a city to take [on] the worst violent offenders–target felons with guns, target gangs–drug-dealing gangs–that are ravaging that community. Why shouldn’t the communities of Detroit have the same ability to walk to school in the morning like every other community in the state.

  • Take murderers, rapists, people who are committing assaults, human traffickers, drug dealers off the streets. Let’s get these neighborhoods back to the good people of Detroit.
