LET’S GET TO WORK: ROGERS WELDS IN LIVONIA MAGNETICS FACILITY, EMPHASIZES INVESTING IN SKILLED TRADES
WHITE LAKE, MI — Army veteran, businessman, and Trump-endorsed candidate for U.S. Senate Mike Rogers took a shot at welding in a Livonia manufacturing facility, Storch Magnetics, where he met with workers, highlighted no tax on overtime, and discussed the importance of investing in skilled trades.
This video is the latest in Rogers’ Let’s Get to Work series, which showcases various highlights of the historic Working Families Tax Cuts. In the series, Rogers works at diners, on farms, and in manufacturing facilities across the state to talk with Michigan workers about their experiences and how they personally save thanks to the tax cuts.

MIKE ROGERS: Hey, we’re at Storch Manufacturing, here in Livonia. We’re going to go in and learn about all the products. Let’s Get to Work.
MIKE ROGERS: Well, thanks, Matt, for taking us through the company, introducing us to some of your incredible employees, who are doing really amazing work.
MATT CARR: Mike, I appreciate you coming out and having interest in a business like ours. We’ve been around about 75 years, and our niche–what we’re known for today–is engineered magnetic solutions.
MIKE ROGERS: You were telling me that you’re getting ready to add some employees here.
MATT CARR: We’re actively hiring in virtually in every role.
MIKE ROGERS: There’s some reshoring happening in Michigan. I think you’ve seen some of the benefit of that as well.
MATT CARR: We have. The idea of making things here is important. It’s important in national security, to have a vendor here that can adapt, pivot, make corrections, and get you back on track–or keep you on track. I think it’s important.
MIKE ROGERS: And that’s your competitive edge, isn’t it?
MATT CARR: It really is.
MIKE ROGERS: Yeah, that’s amazing. You have folks down there, hard-working folks who I got to spend some time with–a few of them. Wonderful people, really like what they do. And they clearly like the company here and the atmosphere here. You pay overtime here.
MATT CARR: We do.
MIKE ROGERS: How is that no tax on overtime going to affect these people who are working hard for a living?
MATT CARR: Those folks that are putting in that overtime and people that are running machines are also doing maintenance on machines. So, when they’re putting in that time for overtime, it’s important that they get every penny they can.
MIKE ROGERS: I’m excited about that because these folks deserve it.
MATT CARR: They do. They really do. And these are technology-based careers. These are great paying careers. It’s important that manufacturing remains strong.
MIKE ROGERS: We’ve had some rough go on manufacturing. Lost a lot of manufacturing jobs. Do you think we should continue that path, or do you think we’re ready for a change?
MATT CARR: I’m excited to work with candidates. I’m excited to work with anybody here inside of the state of Michigan and in the U.S. that is excited about making sure that we make manufacturing strong. Stronger than it has been. And that we continue to reinvest here in our people and everything that surrounds it. It’s, again, a great way to make a career.
MIKE ROGERS: And you can do very, very well for your family. Nowhere in the world can this happen but the United States of America. I’m fired up about it. I’m excited that you’re going to hire more people here in the future, and I want to keep that trend going.
MATT CARR: Appreciate the interest in our company.
MIKE ROGERS: Yeah. Thank you.
MATT CARR: Thanks for coming out today.
