ROGERS’ STATEMENT ON GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATE STOCK BUYBACK

DETROIT, MI – Army veteran, former FBI street agent, former House Intelligence Chair, and candidate for U.S. Senate Mike Rogers today released the following statement on General Motors’ largest corporate stock buyback:

“Today, GM announced the largest corporate stock buyback in the company's history. Why? Because GM lost billions investing in EVs nobody wanted. For two years, GM could have focused on reinvesting in Michigan workers and manufacturing vehicles consumers actually want to buy. Instead, they chose to put profits over people, and Michigan autoworkers will pay the price.

The losses from their EV investment are yet another warning sign that the Green New Deal and Abdul El-Sayed’s radical energy agenda will destroy manufacturing, eliminate jobs, and make life unaffordable for Michigan families.

Michigan has lost 27,000 manufacturing jobs since 2018. During the same period, the rest of America gained 100,000. Michigan deserves a U.S. Senator who will fight for auto jobs and Michigan manufacturing. Let’s get to work!”
