ICYMI: 9/11 HEROES CALL OUT ABDUL EL-SAYED
DETROIT, MI – Army veteran, former FBI agent, former House Intelligence Committee Chairman, and candidate for U.S. Senate Mike Rogers this week welcomed the support of several American heroes who answered the call to service following the 9/11 attacks. They have collectively called out Abdul El-Sayed for his comments on the attacks and his choice to campaign with Hasan Piker, who said “America deserved 9/11.”
Major Jon Turnbull —
“...Yeah, he mourns what we did in the Middle East, and I know what he mourns. He mourns what my team did. He mourns the fact that we went in there and we removed oppression, we removed tyranny. Saying that we deserved 9/11 shows his true colors, and for somebody to support somebody that says that we deserved 9/11 shows their true allegiance, their true loyalties. Are they loyal to America, to our way of life here, what we believe in, in freedom and justice, and the Constitution, all the things that make America what it is? It's shameful to say we deserve 9/11. Nothing's more symbolic of what America is. You know, we can get hit, we rebuild, but we don't forget.”
David Beamer —
“...Those 40 free people on Flight 93 were not victims; they were killed in action. 9/11 was a horrific incident. It was perpetrated by enemies of America. When I hear anyone suggest America deserves 9/11, my question is, who would say that? An American wouldn't say that. A citizen, I guess, has free will and a right to say that an American would not…”
Captain David Nadeau —
Tricia Nadeau: “They didn't deserve the deaths. We don't deserve the illnesses. We don't deserve that. America did not deserve 9/11.”
Captain Nadeau: “...No matter who you are. No matter who says it. We're firefighters, and I'm a United States Marine. We go towards it, and that's what we do. We go forward. We can't forget this. We've got to learn from it. We've got to grow from it. Everybody came together. We need that again. We've got to stop the divide. We've got to come together. We're Americans, and that's what we stand for.”
Joaquin Guerrero —
“...If anybody thought that our country deserved what happened on that day. No individual, no country, anybody, no matter where you're from, deserved what happened on that day. Those were human beings, that were innocent human beings going to work daily, just to make a life [and[ to enjoy this country. It breaks my heart because no one deserves that.
…
These words came to me as I kind of wrote them down in my journal here at 9/11: ‘We as Americans should never forget the tragedy that struck our nation on 9/11. May we never take freedom, life, or this great country for granted. It was bought and paid for by men and women who gave the supreme sacrifice, so we could have what we have today, and that is freedom.’”
